Alternatives to Dairy Milk

Plant milk has been consumed for centuries in various cultures, both as a regular drink and as a substitute for dairy milk. There are several reasons for consuming plant milk: health reasons, including lactose intolerance, milk allergy, veganism, religious reasons, and simple taste preference.

The most popular varieties are soy milk, almond milk, rice milk, and coconut milk. One thing to note: We recommend limiting your intake of soy milk because we find that many of our patients show a sensitivity to soy; additionally, the soybean is a food that is commonly genetically engineered.
